The aims and background top↑
As a tribute to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Hong Kong Equestrian Olympics in the coming August, we would like to hold the 2nd SMART Convention along with the 1st International Symposium of Textile Bioengineering and informatics (TBIS) during August 14-16, 2008.
The launch of SMART (Sports Medicine And Rehabilitation Therapy) during the 1st SMART Convention on June 9-10, 2007 (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/whoctr/smart07) has stimulated enormous rapport from the professional, industrial, corporate partners.
"Innovation, new technology and clinical applications" are the hallmark of SMART. The 2008 SMART Convention will meet these challenges with a new dimension of innovative ideas and products in the design of sportswear and apparels and its relevant application in sports medicine and rehabilitation therapy. We would like to therefore present SMART Convention 2008 as a joint venture with TBIS, an exciting partner in the specific area of sportswear design.
With the backdrop of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Hong Kong Equestrian Olympics, we are confident that this joint venture would not only be a win-win collaboration to both SMART and TBIS but also to the sporting community as a whole.

In climax of the 2008 Beijing Olympic (August 8-24, 2008), we organize the 1st International Symposium of Textile Bioengineering and Informatics with a theme on "Sports·Health·Eco·Function·Sportswear Creative Design", jointly with the 2nd SMART Convention. The purpose is to promote multi-disciplinary approach of creative design innovations for sports, health, eco and sustainable lifestyle.
Textile bioengineering is a merging frontier area of research that integrates physical, chemical, mathematical, and computational sciences and engineering principles to study relationship between fiber materials and human biology, medicine, behavior and health.
The SMART-TBIS joint symposium aims to set up a unique global stage and platform for people in the whole supply chain/community of sports wear, sports shoes, sports goods, sports medicine and rehabilitation with common interests in providing high quality of products and services. It will bring excellent opportunities for both academic researchers and industrialists to exchange ideas, identify new products/ technologies/ services/ markets and obtain good recognizable achievements. We are looking forward to your active participation and contribution.
