Welcome Message

In climax of the World Exposition, Shanghai China 2010 (1 May – 31 October, 2010), we are organizing the 3rd International Symposium of Textile Bioengineering and Informatics with a theme on “Greener Textiles, Healthier Life” on 28-30 May 2010. The purpose is to promote multi-disciplinary approach of creative design and technology innovations for a healthy, eco friendly, active and sustainable lifestyle.

Textile bioengineering is a promising tassel area of research that integrates physical, chemical, mathematical, computational sciences and engineering principles to study how fibre, textiles and fashion affect human biology, medicine, behaviour and health.

The TBIS 2010 symposium aims to set up a unique global stage and platform for people in the whole supply chain/community of fibre, textiles and fashion with common interests in providing high quality products and services. It will bring excellent opportunities for both academic researchers and industrialists to exchange ideas, identify new products/ technologies/ services/ markets and obtain good recognizable achievements. The Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Society 2010 International Symposium (TBIS 2010) is co-organized by Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Society and Donghua University. It will be hosted jointly by the College of Textiles and the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Donghua University. The conference is also jointly sponsored by the following key laboratories: State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers, Key Laboratory of Textile Science and Technology, and Key Laboratory of Science & Technology of Eco-Textiles, Ministry of education, China, Engineering Research Center for Industrial Textiles, Ministry of Education, China, “111” Project on Biomedical Textile Materials Science and Technology.  International symposiums organized by TBIS usually attract hundreds of professionals and students around the world. The conference will be held in the beautiful Songjiang Campus of Donghua University which has the strongest textile science and engineering program in China.

There are more than 5000 graduate and undergraduate students in Donghua University majoring in Textile, Fiber and Polymer related areas including Polymer science, Manmade fiber spinning and processing, Textile materials science, Textile technology, Textile chemistry, Biomedical textiles, Textile product design, Apparel technology, Apparel design, Fashion, Textile marketing and international trade and textile management. By being a part of this symposium, you will have a chance to not only meet all the experts and professionals in Textile Bioengineering and Informatics related areas around the world but also meet all the students studying in Donghua University and other universities in China.
